Sara Constant is a flutist and music writer working with a special interest in contemporary music.
Sara’s performance practice and research interests include 20th- and 21st-century music, focusing on multimedia, Asian American identity, and ecology. Active as a soloist and ensemble musician, she has performed recently with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensemble, Silverthorn Symphonic Winds, and at the Arosa Academy in Arosa, Switzerland and Impuls Academy in Graz, Austria. Sara holds an Honours BMus in Flute from the University of Toronto and an Honours MA in Musicology from the University of Amsterdam, and has presented her research with the Koninklijke Vereniging voor Nederlandse Muziekgeschiedenis (KVNM), Bake Society, and Sonic Acts Academy. She has studied flute with Camille Watts, Jeannette Landré, and Tarmo Johannes.
Currently, Sara works as an editor at The WholeNote magazine, flutist with duo Constant/Gray, and co-organizer of the Toronto Creative Music Lab. She is based in Toronto.
